Exploring the RNA-protein regulatory landscape, one interaction at a time
About
Jade Goveas completed a Master of Biotechnology (Genetics and Genomics) at the University of Western Australia, where her dissertation continued the development of dirCLIP, a method for mapping RNA-protein binding sites using Direct RNA Sequencing on the Oxford Nanopore long read platform. She currently continues this work as a researcher in the RMODEL Laboratory at UWA. Her research asks how RNA-protein interactions can be resolved at isoform resolution on native, full-length RNA molecules without the limitations and biases that constrain conventional CLIP-based methods. Ultimately, dirCLIP is envisioned as a platform to interrogate the isoform-specific, multi-protein context of post-transcriptional gene regulation that underpins cellular physiology and disease.
